I recently came across an interesting article titled, “The Sketchbook of Susan Kare, the Artist Who Gave Computing a Human Face”. As many of you already know, Susan Kare was responsible for designing the original font for the Mac OS, as well as the navigational icons. The article provides details of how Susan found her way to Apple and also provides a glimpse into her sketchbook of Mac icon designs. It’s an interesting look back at the early history of Apple that the iPhone and iPod generation probably isn’t aware of. Jump over to the PlosBlogs to read the full article.

Apple has given Jan-Michael Cart, known for his concepts of iOS User Interface improvements, a 7 month internship. Cart’s most notable concept was extremely similar to what eventually became Apple’s Siri Voice assistant, but he has also created concepts for “Fast App Switching” and an improved “Notification Center”.
